2017 was a great year for me. I traveled to a record 6 countries and I published my first cookbook! Below is visual recap of of some of my traveling.
I’m Back
Hello old friends, still there? I hope so. I took an unexpectedly couple months off. At this point, this blog is still a hobby so I had to shift my priorities for a bit. In short, I’ve been busy! I finished my second cookbook in 6 months and I’ve been traveling. You last saw me in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I closed out 2017 traveling to Japan, Thailand, and Cambodia. I’m excited to tell you about it. Over the next week I’ll share more about my 2017 SE Asia adventures. I can’t believe it’s almost March already. To me it means I’m about to start traveling. A lot. March through the end of the year I’ll be off to Vegas, Austin, London, Paris, Mexico, Barcelona, Daytona Beach, New Orleans, and Italy. A lot of travel.
San Francisco Bay Area
My parents lived in the Bay Area for 20 years (they moved back to Chicago in 2013) and lived there myself for a few years after college. Never say never but I don’t ever see myself living in the Bay again but it will always hold a special place in my heart.
Middle East – Israel/Jordan
IF it’s safe for you to travel to Israel & Jordan then go. I fell in love with both countries my first time there. Read more about my time in Jordan.
Chicago
I celebrated my birthday this year at my parent’s house with my cousins.
Boston
For my first time in Boston I wish I could have seen more. I was there for a conference so the highlight of my weekend was meeting Emmitt Smith. I’m not a Cowboys fan (Steeler nation) but I’m a sports fan so of course I respect Emmitt.
Vegas
Visiting my parent’s other house. Is this even worth mentioning?!?
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Viva Mexico! I absolutely love Mexico. After traveling the world, it’s still one of my favorite places to vacation. I was lucky enough to once again spend time at a Grand Fiesta Americana resort and it was once again an amazing experience.
Toyko, Japan
My 24-hour stop over in Japan was amazing. We hung out with family friends most of the time so my 24-hours in Japan will be very different that most peoples. Still, we had time to eat sushi, karaoke and visit an authentic Japanese tea room which was an experience I will share with you.
Thailand – Phuket & Island Hopping
Vacation of a lifetime! The week I spent on a yacht island hopping was seriously one of the best vacations of my life. I’m excited to share it will you.
Siem Reap, Cambodia
Delicious food, super nice people. My time in Cambodia was a short 48 hours, 12 of which I had food poisoning but I still left saying, I LOVE Cambodia!

That’s so awesome on the cookbook! Congrats! Sounds like 2017 was a great year for travel. I want to make it to Chicago this year, but am waiting for the weather to warm up a bit. I live in Salt Lake City, so traveling to another cold destination isn’t something I’d like to do right now, haha!
This reminds me I need to travel and socialize more! Great experience! 🙂
2017 was amazing for you, you visited some really amazing places! I am sure Tokyo, Thailand, Cambodia, Mexico, all must’ve been great places to visit and explore and there’s so much diversity in your trips – from beaches, landscapes, culture, history. Great choice of countries and cities, I wish you all the best for 2018, happy travels 🙂
2017 seems to have been great for you. Some very nice photographs. I especially enjoyed the pic of the infinity pool at Cabo San Lucas and the photo of Phuket with the canoes.
